Bowlers help match 78 mentors, children
The 300 bowlers and 18 business sponsors of this year's "Bowl for Kids' Sake" at the Grand Sierra Resort and Carson Lanes to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada. The event generated funding to support 78 new matches. Sponsors included: International Game Technology, Charter Media, Grand Sierra Resort, Q&D Construction, Best Buy, Nelson Electric Co., Peppermill, Cashman Equipment, Union Pacific Railroad, Intuit, ERGS Inc., Carson Lanes, Renown Health, Papé Machinery, Fleet Heating & Air, Jones Vargas, Model Dairy and JLM Industrial Supply.
Additional sponsors included: BJ's Brewery and Restaurant, Pepsi Bottling Group, 7-Up Bottling Co., Buckbean Brewery, Reno Bighorns, Goldilocks Jewelry, Skagen Watches, Face Logic and Sierra Massage Co. Top individual fundraisers were media personality Neda Iranpour, Justin Andrews of CLP Resources and Sharon Wood of Renown. Wells Fargo led businesses by forming 13 teams of five bowlers each.
Also winners are: Charlie Palmer Steak House, Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation, Jack Van Sickle Foundation, Brett and Karen Coleman Foundation and the Nell J. Redfield Foundation, for supporting one-to-one matches of children and volunteer mentors.
